This is just a quick update.
Michel is alive… I do not know any of the details but it seems that at some point in his crossing his tiller arm broke off and he had no way to steer his vessel at all.
Somehow he made his way into West End Bahamas…
He did not text me on my satellite phone to tell me he was okay… He could have… he had the ability to…. he did not.
WildChild got stuck in Great Sail Cay for a week with no cell phone coverage and no internet access and no text access and no wind information…. We had no contact with the outside world.
To even get the post uploaded and check wind forecasts we had to sail 10 miles towards the edge of the nearest cell towers coverage to get 1 bar of reception…. then sail back to safety in the anchorage. I was not even sure the post got uploaded…. my laptop lost connection in the middle of the upload….
We got pinned in Great Sail Cay for a week because the trade winds had drifted north more than usual… we had strong East winds steady for a week and we had to travel East to make it to Crab Cay. We had to sit them out.
Someone did get me a sat phone text to tell me Michel was still alive. Thank you to the Anonymous person who sent the message.
So everything is ok.
